First Quarter 2018

Wimbledon 2018

SAVE THE DATE . . . our big annual event to help the groups you vote on is coming on APRIL 14th at Laguna Niguel Tennis Club. We are truly grateful to Mark Spearman and the LNRC staff for allowing us to host this worthy event at LNRC to raise money for these two worthy organizations. Last year was a lot of fun and we plan on making this year even BETTER! But we need you to make it happen . . . This is OUR event an d many hands working make a lighter load. In the latter part of January, we will set up committees. We will need our TSO members helping to either
obtain auction items, sponsorships, helping with registration, marketing (posters at other clubs – tell your friends), decorations, etc. Let’s do this!!!!

Tennis SUPPLIES Others

On December 11th TSO ladies gathered to put together bags to serve the homeless in our communities. In donating our gently used shoes, we often hear how a nice pair of new socks and toiletries
are needed and what better way for tennis ladies to gather then with a worthy service project.

In each assembled bag, we placed the following: new socks, water bottle, toothbrush and paste, notepad, towel, list of resources, a “love all” note and miscellaneous toiletries that you donated. For 2018, our goal is to invest thousands towards this worthy service project by assisting each Chapter in coordinating “Supply Parties” one to two times per year. TSO will supply the bags, new socks, water bottles, toothbrush & paste along with a small food item. We ask that members bring hotel toiletries or other items that they may want to offer. Please continue to save these toiletry items!
One hundred bags were delivered to Friendship Shelter, who handed out bags on Christmas Eve, and to the Family Assistance Ministries for the homeless in Dana Point and in San Clemente. Big thanks to Cathy Bass for purchasing all the necessary items!
You rock!

Happy New Year!

Where does the time go? Another year has passed, and within that year, TSO has accomplished even more! All of this is possible because of you, our fabulous members! In 2017, we came together to play tennis and to help with service projects, and in doing so, we helped more than fourteen different groups serving thousands of people in need. We ended the year with two profound
service projects – Serve A Family (gifts to those in need) and with our new ongoing service project Tennis SUPPLIES Others (bags for the homeless). A list of all our 2017 beneficiaries is outlined below. Collectively we made it happen! You are ALL amazing and I’m so grateful to be a part of this wonderful group! We will invest thousands in our Tennis SUPPLIES Others program. We will support Chapters, both with membership meetings and round robins, expanding our efforts to support them. And finally, we will all join hands and racquets to play in our annual Wimbledon Gala & Tournament on April 14th. There’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to stay organized, focused and driven to continuously move forward with our mission to serve others in need. Many thanks to our dedicated Board of Directors: Marcia Patterson, Stacy Gavin, Terry Campbell, Rhonda Buckner, Cathy Bass, and to our newest addition, Melanie Blau, who will be serving as our Corporate Treasurer. And, thank you to our OC President, Jill Behrle, who still attends our corporate board meetings giving invaluable advice and guidance. Most importantly we thank YOU for your membership, for your support, and for your kindness.
Love All,
