Service Projects

We perform different acts of service, enabling each member to affect change one step at a time, with an eventual goal of community transformation. Once our members select a beneficiary, performing a service project is a great way to fulfill the beneficiary’s needs.

TSO Members coordinate a variety of service projects as a way to help our community. TSO members have generously donated their time to cook and deliver lunch to Orangewood Foundation and coordinated collections for pantry and baby items for organizations such as Ronald McDonald House, Families Forward and the OC Rescue Mission. In addition, we have collected jackets, sweaters and blankets for families in Tijuana.

Make and Take Lunch

Members generously donated food and delivered the “make and take lunch” to teens in need at the Orangewood Foundation in Santa Ana, California. Tennis Serves Others thanks these members who helped with the food donation, cooking, and delivering meals: Jill Behrle, Stella Charton, Kelly Grunbeck, Dee Hall, Kevil Linn, Kristine Michaels, Dorene Spearman.

Ronald McDonald House

Both members and non-members of Tennis Serves Others generously donated food and kitchen items to the Orange County Ronald McDonald House. Items given such as fruit snacks, noodles, plates, utensils, and baby wipes are helping to give comfortable “home away from homes” for the families of seriously ill children receiving treatment in Orange County hospitals.

Tennis Balls for Shelter Dogs

TSO Board members collected used tennis balls which were distributed to several animal shelters. TSO serves the animals in our communities too.

Serve A Family Program

During the holiday season, Tennis Serves Others’ members join in service to help low income families, seniors or veterans in need. Our goal is to “adopt” a few families each year providing necessities, gifts and ultimately love during this time of year.

TSO Goody Bags

This last year many TSO members gathered at a member’s house to assemble goody bags for Meals-on-Wheels seniors. With each goody bag, we wrote a “love all” note hoping to bring some cheer. We hope you join us in this annual event.

The Giving Farm

The Orange County Food Bank distributed more than 23 million pounds of food each year in partnership with the Community Action Partnership of Orange County and the USDA. More than 300 local charities, soup kitchens and community organizations receive fresh produce some of which you see here. Members picked butternut squash in August 2020, a record month where 1 million people were in need of food due to the pandemic.

Back to School Necessities

The Illumination Foundation works daily to give Orange County’s homeless population the daily necessities including housing, healthcare, food, clothing, job assistance and help with childcare. Over 55,000 people are homeless in Orange County and 32,000 are children. TSO Members collected backpacks and school supplies during the IF Back to School Drive.

Operation Help A Hero – OHH Baby

Operation Help A Hero is dedicated to the wellbeing of American military families. Sometimes military families are separated at the most joyous time of their lives when their baby is born. OHH hosted a drive by baby shower and members along with their tennis team created a baby basket for Baby Dawson Liam. Rhonda Glasscock, Julia Keene, Lissett Machado, Julie Skordas, Yelena Shemyakina
